Ribbit Your Code Isabella Soriano
Ribbit Your Code Activity
Isabella Soriano & Kylee Ware
Activity:
Connect Lego Frog to the WeDo 2.0 lab app on a laptop. Have the app already downloaded.
My partner and I will introduce the vocabulary of the modes to use for coding.
Forward Backwards Speed Time (seconds)
Pause/stop
My partner and I will model the frog going forward one time through the coding on the app.
My partner and I will model the frog going backward one time through the coding on the app.
The first task for the students is to make the frog go forward and stop (first code done student scaffolding by my partner and I)
The second task is to make the frog go backward and stop (the second code done by student scaffolding by my partner and I)
Now have the students try and make the code shown by my partner and I ( time 5 speed 5)
Now the students will make another code however this time the speed is 8 and the time 5.
Now the students will make another code with the speed on 9 and the time on 7.
If students complete the codes they will be able to create their own.
Possible outcomes:
Students not understanding the codes. We will provide a "cheat sheet" of the modes of the codes definitions.
5b: Empower students to select personally meaningful computational projects.
5c: Use a variety of instructional approaches to help students frame problems in ways that can be represented as computational steps or algorithms to be performed by a computer.
