Review Questions (DEAL and Survey)
● What are your learning expectations regarding
a) personal growth,
b) civic engagement and
c) academic enhancement?
My learning expectations regarding personal growth was to focus on growth mindset questions throughout my lesson at Metro with the students. My learning objective was for students to learn the plant life cycle and what plants need to grow like us. My focus growth mindset question to students was "What did you learn from this experience?" Leading to civic engagement with our Star Hero Journey story for students to learn they can make a difference in our community by saving trees and planting plants using the knowledge of how plants grow and what they need in order to grow using our story for motivation to the students. Attending Metro and collaborating with colleagues enhanced my academic knowledge being an EC-6 STEM major. I was able to plan and collaborate using technology to meet with my colleagues and plan a lesson which I will have to do when I graduate. Working with students and teaching a lesson enhanced my academics as well as building experience and practicing professional practices, professional communication, professional attributes, and my development as a professional.
● Develop at least one goal from each respective learning expectation area (personal growth, civic engagement, academic enhancement).
One goal for personal growth for my students was what they learned from this experience and for myself to develop as many growth mindset questions for my students to grow and learn from.
One goal for civic engagement for my students was to motivate them using our Star Hero Joruney story to make a difference using the knowledge of how plants grow. A goal of civic engagement for myself was working with my colleagues to produce an effective lesson for our community using our knowledge put together as well as our skills and our motivation being education majors to make a difference.
Learning from different teachers with different skills and backgrounds was an academic enhancement for our students. A goal for academic enhancement for myself was utilizing professional communication throughout the process of collaborating with my colleagues.
Regarding the Policy and Professional Expectation document links:
● How did your participation in this event contribute to your understanding and implementation of the TAMU-CC Teacher Educator Professional Expectations Policy?
My participation at the Metros event contributed to my understanding of the TAMUCC Teacher Educator Professional Expectations Policy in numerous ways. I came prepared with numerous of pre-planning with my knowledge of the plant life cycle, with a lesson to engage students, and demonstrated flexibility at the event when no technology was provided. I communicated with respect and was professional. I attended on time and was dressed professionally and collaborated throughout the whole process and event with my colleagues.
● In what areas of the Policy do you feel you would need to set goals for yourself if involved in future transdisciplinary collaboratives?
A goal from the policy I would set goals for myself is open-mindedness when working with colleagues as well as written/online communication.
Read and Reflect Professional Explanation Policy:
I believe my professional attributes and practices strengths are always being prepared and always being flexible. As an educator, you must plan and when I finish planning I always practice a lesson so I can know how it can play out as well as hiccups that happen in education all the time, especially with technology. Knowing that things come up is a part of education so I am always prepared and ready to be flexible. My appearance is always professional as well which is one of my strengths. Advocacy is also a strength that I have always demonstrated in life and bring as a strength to my classroom.
A development as a professional weakness I have is being open-minded as I can always work on taking constructive feedback from my colleagues. Another weakness I have is professional communication using written/online communication I can work on, especially emails.
Goals:
I can work on being open-minded by utilizing the advice and tips to enrich my lessons. I can improve my online and written communication by utilizing my professor's and CT's emails and announcements as examples and practice writing my own.
